TNI Transfers 256 Soldiers, Former Bodyguards and President Jokowi's Aides Also Get Positions

This mutation also includes a number of soldiers who were once around President Joko Widodo.

The newly arrived TNI soldiers at the TNI Air Force runway in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Thursday (10/22), lined up to immediately depart to areas assigned for forest and land fire management, especially in Ogan Komering Ilir and Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Commander of the TNI Agus Subiyanto has transferred and promoted 215 TNI officers. In addition to rotating high-ranking officers who are entering retirement, four strategic positions occupied by three-star generals have also changed. Several of these positions are filled by TNI officers who were once bodyguards for President Joko Widodo, namely Major General M Hasan.

Mutations of a number of TNI officers are stated in the Decree of the TNI Commander Number Kep/851/VII/2024 dated July 24, 2024 concerning Dismissal from and Appointment to Positions within the TNI. At least 61 soldiers with the rank of colonel will be promoted to one star, 36 soldiers will enter retirement, and 1 soldier will die.

As for the rotation of strategic positions held by star-ranked military personnel, it was found in the positions of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Kasum TNI), Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Pangkogabwilhan III), Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad), and Inspector General (Irjen) TNI.

Lieutenant General Richard TH Tampubolon from Pangkogabwilhan III has been appointed as the Military Commander. He replaces Lieutenant General Bambang Ismawan who has entered retirement.

Major General Bambang Trisnohadi, who served as the Commander of the IX/Udayana Military Command (Pangdam), was promoted to become the Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command III (Pangkogabwilhan). Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Saleh Mustafa was transferred from the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad) to become a Major General in the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Saleh was transferred to replace Rear Admiral Dadi Hartanto who had entered retirement.

In addition, Major General M Hasan has also been promoted from the Jakarta Military Command (Pangdam Jaya) to become the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad). Hasan and Bambang Trisnohadi, who currently hold two-star ranks, will be promoted to three-star ranks as a consequence of their positions.

The Head of TNI’s Information Center (Kapuspen), Major General Nugraha Gumilar, stated that the process of transferring and promoting mid-level and high-level TNI soldiers is carried out for the sake of organizational development. "For organizational needs," he explained briefly.

In this latest mutation, Gumilar was also rotated to become a permanent lecturer at Defense University, a position he previously held. His position as the TNI Spokesman will be filled by Brigadier General Hariyanto, who currently serves as the Chief of Staff of Kodam XVII/Cendrawasih.

The military also rotated the position of regional military commanders in several strategic areas. The position of the Pangdam IX/Udayana was shifted from Major General Bambang Trisnohadi to Major General Muhammad Zamroni, who is currently serving as the Commander of the TNI AD Cavalry Weaponry Center (Danpussenkav).

The position of Commander of V/Brawijaya has been rotated from Major General Rafael Granada Baay to Major General Rudy Saladin. Meanwhile, Rudy is still serving as the Military Secretary to the President (Sesmilpres). Meanwhile, Rafael will become Pangdam Jaya, a position previously held by M Hasan who was transferred to become Pangkostrad.

The position of the Commander of XVII/Cenderawasih has been rotated from Major General Izak Pangemanan to Major General Rudi Puruwito. Currently, Rudi serves as the Commander of Infantry Division (Pangdivif) 1 Kostrad, while Izak has been transferred to become the Deputy Commander of the Army Doctrine, Education, and Training Command (Kodiklatad).

Of the 256 soldiers who were transferred, some of them had previously served in President Joko Widodo's environment. One of them was M Hasan, who was promoted to Pangkostrad. Hasan is one of the people who had been around Jokowi.

Hasan served as Commander of Group A of the Presidential Security Force from 2016-2018. Group A of the Presidential Security Force is responsible for escorting the President and his family. Afterwards, Hasan held several positions, including Commander of Korem 061/Suryakencana, Deputy Commander of the Special Forces Command, Commander of the Special Forces Command, and Commander of the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command.

In addition to Hasan, the career of Presidential Chief of Staff Rudy Saladin is also considered successful. At the age of 48, Rudy became the youngest two-star general in the Indonesian National Army and the first of his batch to be promoted. Rudy achieved the rank of Major General in November 2023.

Rudy's career in the palace began when he became President Jokowi's Aide in 2019-2021. After that, he became the Danrem 074/Warastratama, Danrem 061/Surya Kencana, Special Staff to the Army Chief of Staff, and even became the Sesmilpres. Now, he is once again trusted to lead the troops as the Pangdam V/Brawijaya.
